Minnesota Veterans Home – Preston is a 54-bed skilled nursing facility operated by the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. It is dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered care for Veterans and their spouses.
The Home opened in early 2024, and is located on a scenic 15-acre blufftop surrounded by native white oak forest within the City of Preston. The facility features private rooms and baths and is thoughtfully designed into three 18-resident “households” to foster a warm, homelike environment.
Amenities include inviting communal spaces such as a café, family-style dining room, meeting/theater rooms, outdoor courtyards, and areas for meditation. Residents benefit from specialized care tailored to their physical, cognitive, and social needs—all within a peaceful, nature-rich setting.

Careers with the Future Minnesota Veterans Homes
Staffing is a very important part of the future Veteran Homes planning process. The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is working closely with each community to identify education and employment resources that will help provide sustainable staffing solutions for each home.
MDVA wants to make sure that everyone has an equal opportunity to join their diverse team. They actively recruit, welcome and support a workforce, which is diverse and inclusive of people who are underrepresented, so that we can support all Veterans who call Minnesota home.
