LaVerne and Denise Paulson Named Grand Marshals of the 2025 Preston Trout Days Parade

Denise and LaVerne Paulson Named 2025 Preston Trout Days Parade Grand Marshals

PRESTON, MN, APRIL 2025 – Denise and LaVerne Paulson have been chosen as the Grand Marshals for the 2025 Preston Trout Days Parade. The couple devoted 35 years to teaching elementary school in Preston, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.

Denise grew up on a farm near Hanska, Minnesota, while LaVerne spent his childhood on a farm near Peterson, Minnesota. They met in Preston in 1973, married two years later, and went on to raise two children.

Denise is a passionate quilter and actively participates in several quilting groups. She also enjoys being part of the crafters at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston. One of her most cherished memories is carrying the Olympic Torch for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

LaVerne’s journey included a year of teaching before he was drafted into the Army. After his service, he returned to Preston and resumed teaching. Together, LaVerne and Denise chose to build their life in Preston—a decision they both consider one of their best. In addition to teaching, LaVerne dedicated 20 years to the Preston Ambulance Service and spent 10 years serving as the Fillmore County recycling educator.

The Paulsons are honored to serve as this year’s Grand Marshals and are looking forward to seeing many friends and neighbors at the parade.
